The honest pattern is that conference-to-conference differences are real but modest — 2.1 inches end to end in D1 — while the differences between divisions, and between positions inside any one roster, are larger.

Definitions and scope
- Source
- Official 2025–26 rosters published by the athletics sites of 1,060 NCAA D1, D2 and D3 men's programs, collected by Depth Chart, joined to each program's conference.
- Conferences
- A school mid-realignment counts in the conference it plays in THIS season — announced future moves are ignored until they happen. Conferences with fewer than 30 listed heights are not shown.
- Heights
- As listed by the school, rounded to the inch in the tables. Listed heights run generous by an inch or so across the sport; comparisons between conferences are unaffected.
- Sample
- 16,149 player-seasons with a listed height and a known conference on 2025–26 rosters.
